However, to ensure that your claim is approved you have to deal with the red tape appropriately.
The terms and conditions of each travel insurance policy is going to be different. As you read through the policy you will want to make sure that your claim is covered by your insurance policy, as well as identify the steps that you need to take to file a claim. Generally, travel insurance policies will require you to call an 800 or an 866 number to talk to a claims agent.
Call your travel insurance company and talk to a claims agent
They will tell you what forms you will need to fill out and what evidence that you will need to include with your claim. They may also assign you a claim number and give you a time limit for how long you have to gather the materials needed and submit your claim.
Gather your evidence
Depending on the type of claim you need to make you may need a police report, receipts and/or a note from your doctor.
Fill out and submit your claim form
The claim form will identify your policy number, your contact information and the nature of your claim. You will most likely need to write a narrative that explains what happened. For example, if you were robbed on vacation then you will need to write a few paragraphs on what happened, what was stolen and what the local authorities told you about your case.
Submit your claim form along with your supporting documentation to the appropriate agent by the deadline provided by your claims agent.
